Do I need to purchase a meal plan?

Yes! It's a great value and it is UT Tyler’s policy that all designated campus residents purchase a meal plan each semester.

What are Dining Dollars?

DCB Dollars are cash values included in all meal plans. They work like a prepaid debit card with funds kept on your Patriot card. Dining Dollars may be used at any on-campus dining location. Meal plans include Dining Dollars. Students can use Dining Dollars to eat at any on-campus retail location and for purchases in the Swoop N' Go convenience store.

What are the Meal Plan Requirements?

Students who live in on-campus housing are required to purchase a meal plan. Off-campus students have the option of purchasing either an on-campus meal plan or a commuter plan. Plans are available for fall and spring semesters.

How do Meal plans work?

Meal plans come with two main features: meal swipes and Dining Dollars. You can access your meal swipes and Dining Dollars through your Patriot Power card. (P2 Card)

How do Meal Swipes work?

Meal swipes are a certain number of meals you can eat at the MET located on the first floor of the University center. When students purchase a meal plan, they are pre-paying for the meals they will eat during one semester. Each time students have their P2 card swiped at the MET, one meal is deducted from the total.
